Following its initial teaser reveal earlier this year, Fox Digital Entertainment and Germany-based studio Wooga have announced further details on their upcoming Futurama mobile game.
Futurama: Game of Drones, as the game is being called, sees players going on a journey with the Planet Express crew as they fight an "imbalanced trade war" against the evil Momco.
"While delivering dangerous cargo to hazardous locations under ill-advised circumstances, players connect groups of delivery drones to solve an array of fiendish puzzles as they venture into iconic environments from the Futurama universe," Wooga said in a blog post today.
Wooga has brought on Secret of Monkey Island and The Wolf Among Us writer Dave Grossman, as well as Game of Thrones: Ascent scribe Jonathon Myers, for Game of Drones. In addition, Futurama writer/producer Patric M. Verrone is on board for the game.
Other mobile games based on Fox franchises include The Simpsons: Tapped Out from Electronic Arts and TinyCo's Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff. Both are free-to-play games. It's unclear if the Futurama game will also use that business model, but it seems likely. A release date has not been announced.
It's not the first Futurama game, as a 3D platformer simply called Futurama was released for Xbox and PlayStation 2 in 2003.
