MMA deciding between EG and Axiom, Ryung to Axiom -October 2024

It was announced that team Slayers will be disbanding early next month after their final GSTL game. GameSpot has learned that player contracts will end November 6, and many players will be on the move. A team executive close to the situation tells GameSpot that former GSL and MLG Champion Mun "MMA" Seong Won is negotiating beween teams Evil Geniuses and Axiom Gaming as the next team he will join.

The source also says that his Slayers Terran teammate and roommate Kim "Ryung" Dong Won will sign to Axiom Gaming, joining Choi "CranK" Jae Won as the second Korean player on the newly formed team by Genna Bain and John “Totalbiscuit” Bain.

“While Ryung and MMA are both still under contract, SlayerS did give their departing players 30 days prior to the end of their agreement to seek out new opportunities,” Axiom Gaming Owner Genna Bain told GameSpot regarding the potential signing. “I have no doubts that these players have been speaking to several teams already. MMA and Ryung are great friends with CranK, but Axiom will be a small and selective team.”

Evil Geniuses, meanwhile, declined to comment. MMA, Ryung, Crank, and Complexity's Kim "Heart" Min Hyuk all live together in a South Korean apartment, ever since the players were removed or left the Slayers team house.

One year ago, Evil Geniuses formed a partnership with Slayers as a Korean training facility. In May, it was announced that they would play the 2012 GSTL Season 2 together, getting to the finals before losing to FXOpen eSports. On September 1st, it was announced that the partnership would be coming to a close, with Evil Geniuses Owner Alex Garfield stating, “Now is the right time for us to head our separate ways”. It is said that MMA developed a strong connection to the Evil Geniuses over the course of the partnership with both management and players, and is his optimal choice for where to go next.

MLG Spring Championship and NASL Season 3 Runner-Up Yang "Alicia" Joon Sik is also looking for a foreign team as his new suitor. Reports have him already in discussions with several teams including Complexity, but that nothing has started. “We've spoken with him but there are no formal offers on the table,” Complexity Co-Owner Jason Lake told GameSpot.

Other players are currently on the hunt for new teams, while Kim "Puzzle" Sang Jun, Choi "CoCa" Jong Hwan, and Hwang "Min" Doh Hyung are said to have switched games to League of Legends.
