Milia '99, the international interactive media festival scheduled for Feb. 9 through 12 in Cannes, France, has announced the nominees for its Milia d'Or Awards, the winners of which will be announced at the festival.

　　Organizers for the festival say that a panel of judges whittled 525 entries from 29 countries down to four nominees in each category.

　　Nominees include:

　　Action: Colony Wars Vengeance and Tekken 3 for the PlayStation and Conflict Free Space and Wargasm for the PC.

　　Adventure/Role Playing: Banjo Et Kazooie and Zelda the Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64, Grim Fandango for the PC, and Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation.

　　Strategy Game: Commandos, Operational Art of War 1939, Populous III: The Beginning, and Starcraft, all for the PC.

　　Simulation/Sports: Diddy Kong Racing and F Zero X for the Nintendo 64, Grand Prix Legends for the PC, and Grand Turismo for the PlayStation.

　　Family Entertainment/Leisure: Bust A Groove for the PlayStation, ColonyCity and Uproar web sites and ShiftControl Interactive Music for the PC.

　　Other categories include Children's Edutainment, Reference and General Culture, and Education and Training. Milia organizers will be handing out grand prize trophies at the awards for Most Impressive Game Play, Excellence in Content, Best Real-Time Interactivity, and Hottest Multiplayer Game. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 8, 1999.

　　If you won't be able to make it to Cannes this year, you can still vote for your favorite - festival goers can register their choice for best in these categories through a poll on the Milia web site. The highest vote getters will receive a People's Choice Award at the festival.
