3DO announced Thursday that it is developing a PlayStation version of Crusaders of Might & Magic and an Nintendo 64 version of Army Men (called Sarge's Heroes), both for release later this year. This is the first time that the Might & Magic series has jumped to the current slate of console systems and the first time the franchise has broken into the 3D action category.
The game features expansive playing fields, encouraging exploration. Players will use a combination of hand-to-hand combat and magic spells to vanquish their enemies. According to 3DO, the game has the widest weapon selection of any game in the genre.
In Army Men Sarge's Heroes, you control Sarge, who leads the Green Army Bravo Company's most elite squad. Stack up on weapons and then go to battle against the Tan Army, who seeks to control the latest in plastic military technology. The game pits you in a third-person camera-chase view against the Tan, through various missions. Along the way you can collect weapons, vehicles, and anything else you can imagine in the toy world of plastic, green, Army Men.
