Midway, who announced Wednesday that its Rampage 2: Universal Tour game was shipping to stores, said that it expects revenues and earnings for the second half of its fiscal year (ending June 30) will be lower than that of the same period a year ago.
The company said it believes coin-operated video-game sales have been affected by weakened market conditions in that industry, despite its release of several critically acclaimed games recently, and fewer games being acquired by third-party developers during that period. It also says that it has experienced delays with respect to several internally developed games. For the year ending March 31, 1999, revenues are expected to be between US$73 and $75 million, compared to revenues of $93.35 million the previous year.
Products the company expects to ship in the first half of fiscal year 2000 include NFL Blitz 2000, NBA Showtime: NBA On NBC, MK Special Forces, Gauntlet Legends, Ready to Rumble Boxing, and Mortal Kombat 4 DC.
