TOKYO--Against formidable competition in the form of the Nintendo Revolution and Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft is continuing to push its next-generation console in Japan. The Xbox 360 is scheduled for release in the country on December 10, and Microsoft has signed on the country's top game developers and has opened up an Xbox 360 showroom in Tokyo in an effort to crack the market that shunned its previous gaming system.
Today, Microsoft took its promotional push online. The company has launched a new Web site for the Xbox 360 named Jump In, and it will be giving out one 360 per day through the site between November 8 and December 9.
Jump In will also function as a community site where gamers can post their opinions and thoughts on the system, as well as other avenues of entertainment non-360-related, such as music, fashion, art, and movies. The list of subject headlines gets displayed in the form of a collage, which will be used later by Microsoft as an official advertisement image for the Xbox 360.
