MicroProse this week closed the doors on its Austin, Texas, development studio and put further development of Guardians: Agents of Justice on hold.
The Alameda, California-based company "will retain the future rights and the intellectual property of its super hero-based strategy game, Guardians: Agents of Justice, but cancel the existing game development." A statement concerning the closure was released on Tuesday.
"Today's top-selling games of this genre have eclipsed the technologies which were available when we first conceived the design of this game," MicroProse's senior vice president of studios Ken Balthaser said in the statement.
Gamers will recall that this was more or less the same chain of events that preceded the eventual cancellation of MicroProse's Star Trek: First Contact about three weeks ago.
