Ever since the Megami Tensei series made its debut on the Famicom (Japanese NES) in 1987, the franchise has been Atlus' most popular product, aside from the Print Club sticker machines that died out in the 1990s. It's no surprise that the company would capitalize on the franchise's notoriety by kicking off its next-generation development with a familiar face.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Atlus has announced it is currently developing a new Shin Megami Tensei game for Sony's PlayStation 3. No details have been disclosed, but the company may release some additional information during the Tokyo Game Show next week.
The latest Shin Megami game announced by Atlus is a series spin-off for the PlayStation 2, titled Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou. No release date has been announced for the game yet.
