MechWarrior 2 Developers Go Savage
MechWarrior 2 Developers Go Savage-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 12:19 PM

A group of veteran developers have joined together to form a Los Angeles-based development studio called Savage Entertainment. Savage will develop games for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and the PC. The company already consists of programmer Tim Morten and producers Chacko Sonny and John Lafleur, all of whom helped create MechWarrior 2 and Heavy Gear. Also joining them is lead designer Ted Peterson, whose credits include Bethesda's Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall and Elder Scrolls: Arena, and art director Robert Stahl, who provided art direction for Cyberia, Cyberia 2, and Pitfall 3D.

The company itself was originally founded in 1998, when each of the original team's members left Activision to begin development on the Sabertooth engine - a proprietary engine that takes advantage of DirectX technology. The Sabertooth engine is already equipped to handle advanced graphic effects, like accelerated transform and lighting and pixel shading. The company has already announced plans to develop an upcoming game using this engine, and is currently in the process of seeking new artists and programmers to work on the project.
