Just as it gets into the hands of gamers, Maxis has already begun to build more hype surrounding its latest city builder, SimCity 3000. The company has released some information regarding what additions to the game will be available as downloadable files.
The first three downloadable files available on Feb. 2 will include San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts. New landmarks will be released each month and new terrain maps will be introduced every two weeks.
With the exception of the landmark buildings, all files will either be created by Maxis or volunteered files made by users with the upcoming Building Architect Tool (BAT). The Building Architect Tool is an easy to use 3D modeling and paint tool that will allow players to create their own buildings. Luckily for players, the BAT will be available free for download from the official SimCity site. Other landmark files already available with SimCity 3000 include the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower, and the White House (no Monica jokes please).
SimCity 3000 has 25 terrains and Maxis complements those with a few dozen additional ones. The first additional terrain, Area 51, will be available on Feb. 2 as well.
Now we just need to get copies of SimCity into our hands...
