Matrox and Avid Sign Video Edit Deal
Matrox and Avid Sign Video Edit Deal-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 10:38 AM

Avid Technology, one of the big names in digital video editing software, has inked an agreement with graphics card maker Matrox Graphics to offer a Windows-based video editing solution for the home and PC market. Avis will bundle its software with Matrox's upcoming Marvel G200-TV and Marvel G200 products.

Avid Cinema will give users an affordable and easy-to-comprehend way of creating professional-quality movies on their PCs. Both the G200-TV and the G200 use Motion-JPEG compression for high-quality video output.

The G200 will allow users to input movies or still pictures from a VCR, camcorder, or TV and create Quicktime, VHS, or AVI movies.

Avid's software has been used for creating such movies and TV shows as Titanic and Seinfeld. Avid Cinema for Windows will allow users to access movie storyboard templates so they can build movies for home, school, or business projects with voice-overs, transitions, titles, credits, and soundtracks.

Matrox's boards, the Marvel G200-TV and the G200, are expected for release sometime during the third quarter of 1998. So if you're looking to save some video clips of you kicking butt or want to build a video collection of your own funniest home videos, Matrox's new cards could let you do just that, along with a powerful 2D/3D engine to back it up so you can still play all your games at full speed.
