Massive Outriders Update Will Nerf Trickster And Technomancer Next Week
Massive Outriders Update Will Nerf Trickster And Technomancer Next Week-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 3:10 PM

Developer People Can Fly has outlined the first major patch for Outriders that makes some tweaks to the looter-shooter, including addressing stability issues and nerfing some class-specific skills.

A disappointment to some Outriders players will come in the form of balancing adjustments to loot drops and class skills. Some enemies, like the Coldclaw and Splittooth, will drop less gear because they were being too generous with their spoils. Meanwhile, Bullet abilities (such as the Technomancer's Blighted Rounds and the Trickster's Twisted Rounds) have been modified so they feel more "top tier," People Can Fly said. This includes increasing Twisted Rounds' cooldown to 25 seconds and reducing the "Vulnerable" status effect's power to 15%. The Technomancer and Pyromancer classes have also been nerfed, with the former's "Damage Against Poison" skill getting its power reduced and the latter's "Trial of Ashes" extra damage output decreased.

Now Playing: Which Outriders Class Is Right For You

A big feature for the game is cross-play between consoles and PC being re-enabled. A date for when this feature will be turned on has not been specified, as People Can Fly said there's a chance that this upcoming patch could release earlier than currently planned. In either case, cross-play will be activated next week.

Another fix addresses the inventory wipe glitch when players crash during a multiplayer session. In a Reddit post, People Can Fly said the bug's occurrence should be "greatly reduced" when the patch goes live. The team is still working on item restoration, with an exact date yet to be confirmed. Only "the most valuable tiers of items lost," like Epic and Legendaries, will be restored, People Can Fly said.

People Can Fly will also improve multiplayer connectivity and stability with next week's update. Outriders should feel more stable online, connectivity speed should be better, and crashes should be alleviated.

Before that update, though, People Can Fly is issuing an update in time for the weekend that will add cross-play to the game across PC and PlayStation consoles. A separate patch, adding the functionality for Xbox consoles, does not yet have an ETA.

Finally, People Can Fly will hand out an "appreciation package" to early players. Those who've played Outriders between March 31 and April 11--or anyone who lost their gear due to a bug--will receive one level-appropriate Legendary weapon, a level-appropriate amount of Titanium, and the Frustration emote.

Check below for the full patch notes for next week's update. And hit up People Can Fly's developer update on Reddit for explanations on the changes, how the team will iterate on fixes, and what went wrong during launch week.
