The upcoming Marvel film Black Panther will be directed by directed by Ryan Coogler, Marvel announced today. As detailed on the Marvel website, Black Panther is scheduled to release in theatres on February 16, 2018. The character will be portrayed by Chadwick Boseman.
Coogler is perhaps best known for writing and directing the seventh film in the Rocky saga, Creed. Black Panther will be the first Marvel film he would have worked on.
Captain America: Civil War will open in theatres on May 6. The film will feature the story of the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man following government registration of superhero activity. Black Panther will make his debut in Captain America: Civil War. The character is the king of Wakanda, a technologically-advanced nation. Spider-Man is also expected to make his Marvel debut in the movie.
