Actor Mark Strong auditioned to play a James Bond villain years ago, but his tryout didn't go so well because he got hammered the night before with Daniel Craig.

　　Strong recalled this story in an appearance on Sky One's There's Something About Movies as part of his promotional tour for Cruella. He said he auditioned to play a Bond baddie in the Pierce Brosnan era--though he didn't name the movie specifically. After learning his lines, he went out for a drink to celebrate. He ended up having too much and flubbed his audition the next day.

　　"I overdid it and the next day I was severely hungover," he said (via Express).

　　He got to the audition to find about eight people sitting behind desks awaiting his performance--but it was a nightmare. "I started, then I just forgot my lines, couldn't remember what they were and they all just kind of fell apart. I was sweating, it was a terrible experience but I really learned from it," he said.

　　Strong added: "But the irony was, the guy I was out the night before getting pissed with was Daniel Craig. So I blame him!"

　　Craig would go on to take over for Brosnan as 007, starting with Casino Royale in 2006. Craig played the British superspy again in Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), and Spectre (2015). He will play the character once again in this year's No Time To Die, which releases in October after a lengthy delay due to COVID.

　　As for Strong, he's had a long and successful career in movies, too, appearing in films like Kingsman: The Golden Circle and 1917. Most recently, he appears in Disney's Cruella. Strong is also known for his voiceover work in video games like Battlefield V and Total War: Rome II.
