Gamers might not have an Italian mustached plumber on their holiday party invitation list, but Mario doesn't care; he's partying this week regardless.
Leading the downloadable pack this week is Mario Party 2 (1,000 Wii points, or $10) on the Virtual Console. Originally released in 2000 on the Nintendo 64, the title stars Mario and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom gang. Up to four players can compete against each other and vie for shiny stars on multiple boards, ultimately hoping to become the party master.
Switching to WiiWare, today Nintendo added two new titles, the first of which is Frobot (1,000 Wii points, or $10). From Fugazo, the one-to-four player title has gamers "making love, not war." More specifically, Frobot sees players controlling a robot taking to the streets to save his five girlfriends. Mario parties this week on the Virtual Console.
Also out on WiiWare today is Inkub (500 Wii points, or $5). From Cosmonaut Games, the title tasks players with defending incubators and the eggs housed inside them. Players will use an assortment of weapons, mines, and blockers to defend the precious material.
Added to DSiWare today were four new titles, the first of which is Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp (800 DSi points, or $8). From Digital Leisure, the game casts players Dirk the Daring, a brave soul who sets out to rescue Princess Daphne, who has been stolen away by the nefarious Wordoc.
Also out today on WiiWare is Abylight's Cosmo Fighters (500 DSi points, or $5). An outer space battle game, the title lets players hone their skills against a CPU opponent or jump right into competitive multiplayer. The title sports DS download play, so only one player needs the title for all to take part.
Paul’s Monster Adventure (500 DSi points, or $5) was also released on DSiWare today. The title has players coming to the aid of monsters known as bosses. Gamers will uncover magical items along their journey, which they can use to help save the mighty creatures.
The final title out this week on DSiWare is Just Sing! Christmas Volume 2 (200 DSi points, or $2). The title has players singing into the DSi's microphone to popular Christmas tunes like "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" and "Deck the Halls."
