In addition to naming former UNC point guard Raymond Felton as cover athlete for NCAA March Madness 06, EA Sports released a hint at one of the new gameplay features that will be part of the upcoming college hoops game: the lockdown stick which will presumably be tied to the right analog stick. While we don't have any details of how the lockdown stick will work yet, it seems this new mechanic is perfectly in keeping with the direction of the latest EA Sports' titles which have made more use out of the right analog stick.
Be it the QB vision controls in Madden 06 (not to mention the defensive hit stick), the upgraded juke controls in NCAA 06, the first-touch controls in FIFA, and advanced dekes in the upcoming NHL 06, the right analog stick will play a big role in the publisher's upcoming releases. No word yet on just how NCAA's lockdown stick will work--especially since it's tied to the defensive side of the ball--but we'll have all the details as soon as we know.
