LittleBigPlanet Dev Teases "Pretty Exciting Announcements" for 2016-January 2024
Jan 6, 2025 8:55 PM

LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule has teased that it will make some "pretty exciting announcements" in the coming year.

As part of a PlayStation Blog post about the UK developer's 10th anniversary (the studio was founded on January 4, 2006), community manager Jenny Lawrence said the anniversary is a "special milestone" for the studio--and the team plans to celebrate with fans.

"Our 10th anniversary is a very special milestone for us, so expect lots of celebrations throughout the year; our official birthday is just the beginning!" Lawrence said. "We've got some pretty exciting announcements and events happening over the course of the next 12 months. It's going to be a jam-packed year so make sure you join us for the ride!"

Media Molecule's PlayStation 4 game Dreams is lined up to launch this year. The studio does not have any other announced projects, though something new might be one of the "exciting announcements" referenced in the blog post.

"We couldn't have got this far without all the endless love and support from our wonderful community; we really do have the best fans in the world," Lawrence said. "The energy and passion that you folks have for our games continually inspires us and pushes us forward, we never want to stop creating and making things for you all. Thank YOU for being the most awesome community we could have ever imagined, we love you all and we can't wait to see what the next 10 years will bring!"

Media Molecule has also launched a pretty neat interactive timeline that lets you see important events in the studio's history. These include milestones like the studio's formation, the birth of LittleBigPlanet, and more. Check it out here.

The first LittleBigPlanet was released for PS3 in 2008. Media Molecule developed the 2011 sequel LittleBigPlanet 2, while 2014's LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS3 and PS4 was primarily handled by outside studios. Media Molecule's other games include Tearaway (2013) and Tearaway Unfolded (2015).

A beta for Dreams is coming to PS4 sometime this year, though a specific release date has not been announced.
