LEGO Media International announced Wednesday its plans for 1999, including the first-ever LEGO products for the Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation game consoles as well as PC games for girls.
New products include LEGOLAND, a build-your-own version of a LEGO theme park; LEGO Racers, which will show up on the PC and the PlayStation and Nintendo console platforms; LEGO Rock Raiders, a 3D action/strategy game; and LEGO Friends, the first title in the LEGO Software for Girls brand.
"Our 1999 product line represents a number of important firsts for LEGO Media," says Gregg Sauter, North American director of sales and marketing for LEGO Media International. "LEGO Friends will be the first title in our LEGO Software for Girls category, while LEGO Racers and LEGO Rock Raiders will be the first LEGO products ever for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation game consoles. These new titles build upon the successful introduction of LEGO Media's 1998 products: LEGO Creator, LEGO Loco, and LEGO Chess."
