Last Chance To Claim These 2 Free PC Games-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 6:35 PM

The Epic Games Store's Mega Sale came to a close last week, unlocking one last mystery free game before Epic returns to its regular pre-announced freebie schedule. Ark: Survival Evolved is up for grabs until Thursday, June 18 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. The open-world survival game is one of two free games this week, joining Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection, which released today and is free on Epic for its first week.

Ark: Survival Evolved originally released in 2017, but it's been around since 2015 as an early access title. A survival game filled with dinosaurs and prehistoric animals, players work to withstand the brutal elements by building bases, scavenging for resources, and befriending dinosaurs both large and small. As far as survival games go, Ark is quite demanding, as you have to manage not only health and stamina, but hunger levels and oxygen.

Now Playing: ARK: Survival Evolved - Official Launch Trailer

Best played with friends, you can link up and form Tribes to join forces, create thriving villages, and take on the most difficult creatures. Ark has both PvP and PvE servers, so you can choose whether you want to test your survival skills against other players or just NPCs.

It does have a seriously unforgiving learning curve, a fact we highlighted in our Ark: Survival Evolved review back in 2017. Critic Brett Todd praised the freedom offered by the open-world gameplay, the prehistoric landscapes, and the creatures who inhabit it while criticizing the steep difficulty and repetitive grind. Ark has evolved (sorry) over the years, however, so it's certainly worth checking out for yourself at the low price of nothing.

As mentioned above, you can also snag Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection--which includes seven classic fighting games--for free starting tomorrow. Epic's Mega Sale featured some of the most high-profile freebies yet, including Grand Theft Auto V, Civilization VI, and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. We keep an updated list of every Epic Games Store freebie, so you can see what's been given away since the program launched in late 2018.

Epic has returned to its tradition of revealing next week's freebies ahead of time. Starting June 18, you can grab Pathway and The Escapists 2. Also, make sure to take a peek at our running list of every free game available now.
