Pokemon Sword and Shield players can claim another free Pokemon right now. The Pokemon Company revealed a download code for a free Porygon2 during the Pokemon Players Cup finals earlier this month. You can redeem this code within the games to claim the Pokemon--but you'll need to act fast, as your time to do so is quickly running out.
To download the free Porygon2, you'll need to fire up your copy of Sword or Shield and follow these steps:
Open the menu and select Mystery GiftSelect Get a Mystery GiftSelect Get Gift with Code/PasswordConnect online and input the password when promptedPorygon2The password to receive the free Porygon2 is PKMNPLAYERSCUP. You have until today, August 31, to redeem it and claim the Pokemon. The Pokemon Company says this particular Porygon2 comes "battle-ready" and has strategies revolving around Trick Room, a move that causes slower Pokemon to act before faster ones for five turns.

Porygon2 isn't the only free Pokemon that was given away for Sword and Shield recently; The Pokemon Company also shared a download code for a free Gastrodon. This particular monster is based on the one used by the winner of the 2019 Pokemon Japan Championships. The code to receive the Gastrodon was PJCS2019CHAMP; however, that distribution expired August 23, 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET / 2:59 PM UTC, so the Pokemon is no longer available.
