Midway announced that Kurt Warner's Arena Football for the Sony PlayStation would be available in retail outlets today. Based on the rapid, six-on-six football action of the Arena Football League (AFL), the game features both authentic leagues and players. The in-game action, including massive hits, head-butts, body-slams, head-slaps, uppercuts, and more, is announced by ESPN sportscaster Larry Beil.
The game incorporates all the arena league rules and regulations, such as a 50-yard field, an end-zone net that remains in play, and smaller goal posts. Peripheral features include a power-up mode, a play editor, and four-player support. Kurt Warner naturally makes an appearance, as a special code lets players make him the quarterback on any of the 17 teams.
"Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed delivers Midway Sports Asylum's hallmark arcade-style hard hits and rule-breaking game play," said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing, Midway Games West. "This game is hard core, with over-the-top football action that isn't available in any other licensed football video game."
GameSpot will have continued coverage of Kurt Warner's Arena Football, with a review forthcoming.
