The Ruins of Kunark, the expansion to Verant Interactive's massively multiplayer EverQuest, has begun shipping. Some EverQuest players have reported to the EverQuest news site EQVault that they have already received the expansion.
The reports indicate that the expansion package contains the game CD, an updated cloth map that includes the Kunark continent, the game's end-user license agreement, and an offer for a free EverQuest toy from Toy Vault.
In addition, EverQuest players have indicated further details concerning the new playable race, the lizardlike Iksar. Although Verant Interactive has previously kept the Iksar's available character classes secret, it's now been revealed that the Iksar will be able to select from the monk, necromancer, shadowknight, shaman, and warrior professions. Although the Iksar's starting stats change depending on the class selected, they have generally well-balanced attribute scores but also particularly high agility and dexterity.
Verant Interactive won't reveal the new features contained in the expansion until April 24, the expansion's official release date. The Ruins of Kunark will also be available in stores later this month as a full retail package that includes the original EverQuest content. GameSpot will bring you more details on the expansion next week.
