The Samsung Economic Research Institute is forecasting that revenues driven by online games will nearly double from 39.5 billion won ($38 million) this year to 77.4 billion won ($74.6 million) in 2007. The group estimates that revenues will eventually rise to 120.7 billion won ($116.2 million) by 2010. The research group cites corporate sponsorship as fueling growth in the online sector. In related news, the Research Institute said the South Korean government is mulling over the idea of building a stadium where future online gaming competitions would take place.
