Through a recent interview with Kuniaki Kinoshita, president of Konami of Japan, conducted by Bloomberg Japan, GameSpot News learned that Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka (KCEO), a division of Konami of Japan, will release a sumo-wrestling game for the Sony PlayStation. The company acquired the license from the Sumo Wrestling Federation to use names of real-life sumo wrestlers in the game. One of the gameplay features is a quest mode similar to those found in RPGs. This mode will let players train and develop their own sumo wrestlers. Kinoshita said, "First we will release it on the current PlayStation console, and depending on its popularity, we are considering a PS2 version as well."
Expect to see Konami's sumo-wrestling game on the Sony PlayStation in Japan sometime this year. There has been no word yet on a US release.
