While little is known about the specific gameplay features of International Superstar Soccer for the PS2, it is obvious that it will be one of the most impressive games in Konami's PS2 launch lineup come October - if the game in fact makes that deadline. Famous for genuine playability, the ISS-series has always succeeded in competing with the established FIFA-series from Electronic Arts. With FIFA 2001 from EA also on the way it looks as though Konami and EA will once again go head-to-head, this time on the PS2. From what we've seen thus far, ISS for the PlayStation 2 doesn't look quite as impressive as EA's FIFA 2001. However, Konami feels that there there is plenty of development time left and that the game will live up to the series' impressive lineage when it hits store shelves.
The other sports title, which is also currently in heavy development, is based on Konami's successful International Track & Field brand. Entitled ESPN International Track & Field, it is expected that the game will feature similar gameplay to its predecessors. The screenshots shown are from the intro of the game. GameSpot will have further information on International Track & Field very soon.
