k0u joins Gamers2, releases statement regarding the NiP exit-January 2024

This article was originally published on GameSpot's sister site onGamers.com, which was dedicated to esports coverage.

After a stint in Ninjas in Pyjamas, Trin Tin 'k0u' Lam has now officially been announced as a Gamers2 player. Gaining notoriety in the last couple of days post his eventful exit from NiP, the dust has finally settled and Trin will be wearing the red jersey side by side Ocelote. Alongside the announcement, the player released a statement, depicting his side of the NiP controversy which you can find below.

This is my experience and view of the situation as follows.

By now, most of you have read what my ex-teammates on NiP had to say about me, but a lot of it is either false or taken out of context.

I joined NiP believing I would be playing in a team consisting of Alex, Nukeduck, Freeze, Mithy and myself. However, after Mithy and Nuke’s bans, I became under motivated and began to perform poorly in scrims. We all have bad games but when my own team started to claim that I was trolling or not taking scrims seriously, it made me perform worse than I had been previously.

On top of that, I was being called to gank either top, mid, or bot, consistently, instead of going with my own intuition. It got to the point where I wasn’t enjoying playing the game with the current line up anymore. As the main shot-caller, as well as the jungler, I cost the team many important games and I sincerely apologize for that.

I also admit that I didn’t take the harsh criticisms very well, and became quite immature towards the end. By the time I tried to change, it was too late as almost every mistake instantly became my fault. While I’m not saying that nothing was my fault, there were times where the others were to blame as well.

When I was offered a chance to join G2, I declined at first, since I thought it was better to stay in NiP. As NiP’s official statement said, the day after the Coke Challenger Series 2 Finals, we all went complete try hard mode in scrims and I felt as if everything was back to normal, and we would be stronger than ever. Despite that initial thought, the day after, the day I informed the team that I would be leaving, the team’s attitude in and after scrims had a complete 180 degree change, once again. I did take G2’s offer into consideration again when I realized to myself that I could no longer grow as a player on NiP, but I didn’t accept the offer right away. I recognized that it would be the best for the team and myself if I left NiP. I had planned to play with them until the end of Playoffs, but the team decided to replace me for the Playoffs, instead.

I want to offer a deep apology for all the fans and people who had believed in me, and I’m sorry that I failed everyone’s expectations for me. I’m also sorry for my behavior on social media after the statements by NiP and Freeze had been released. I just didn’t think they accurately reflected the situation and in a moment of anger, I posted things that I hadn’t meant to.

It’s time to forget the past and look forward to the future. I hope to improve my attitude, teamwork, as well as my play, for my future and for my fans who have been with me all this time.

Although this situation wasn’t ideal or cordial and had many misunderstandings in between everyone, I still want to personally thank everyone on the Ninjas in Pyjamas organization, especially our coach, Clement, and manager, Flabbert. Furthermore, I want to thank each and every single one of my old teammates for giving me the opportunity to grow as a person and player. They were all wonderful people, some of the nicest guys I’ve met, and hopefully we will continue to remain as friends in the future.

And to everyone reading, thank you for all the support and I hope you continue to support me as I continue the next chapter in my career as the jungler for Gamers2.

Being a part of Cloud9 Eclipse, Ninjas in Pyjamas and now Gamers2, k0u has completed his journey throughout the best of the European Challenger scene. The roster of Gamers2 is as follows:

  Jesper 'Jwaow' Strandgren - Top

Trin Tin 'k0u' Lam - Jungler

Carlos 'Ocelote' Santiago - Mid lane

Soler 'Yuuki' Florent - AD Carry

  Fernando 'Rydle' Soria - Support
