Hello Games may not have walked away with the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the 2010 Independent Games Festival in March, but it impressed enough people to be named as a finalist. Today, gamers will be able to check out the game for themselves, as Joe Danger leads a busy week of updates to the PlayStation Network.
The first project from Hello Games, Joe Danger is a stunt motorcycle racer where gamers take control of the titular daredevil to perform madcap stunts across a variety of environments. Joe Danger includes a multiplayer racing component, and gamers can also build their own tracks in a sandbox mode. It is available for $15.
3nd is a rough spot to be in. Racing fans who prefer shooting fire to jumping over it may be interested in Death Track: Resurrection. Also a $15 offering, Death Track offers futuristic vehicular combat in 10 postapocalyptic settings, ranging from New York to Bangkok. With 10 different vehicles to choose from, Death Track includes local split-screen multiplayer, as well as online bouts for up to eight.
Two other new games arrive on the PS3's online store this week. From adventure game aficionados Telltale Games comes Sam & Max: The Penal Zone. The episode is the first in a five-part series featuring the crime-fighting pooch and his hyperkinetic bunny-thing companion and is available for $9. Ubisoft's Voodoo Dice will cost $10 and involves clearing a level of dice by matching sides with a die controlled by the player, as well as finding creative ways to dispatch enemies. A demo for the game is also available.
As for PSOne Classics, Sony has Bloody Roar 2 on tap for $6. The anthropomorphic 3D fighter did not achieve the same level of critical approbation as its predecessor upon release in 1999, primarily due to its striking resemblance to it.
On the PlayStation Store for the PSP, Konami will be matching the retail launch of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker with a digital release for $40. The latest installment in Hideo Kojima's magnum opus is joined by Metal Slug XX and Disgaea Infinite, each of which run for $20.
A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.
