Players of MicroProse's computer version of the Magic: The Gathering card game who have been waiting to play the game over the Internet won't have to wait much longer. MicroProse has announced the release of Magic: The Gathering ManaLink, a multiplayer update to the game.
Purchasers of the Magic: The Gathering Spells of the Ancients expansion disk will be able to download the update in mid-December (thanks to a ManaLink update code included with the disk). A general release of the update is expected on January 1.
The update enables two players to duel over the Internet, chat, send messages, and taunt opponents. The ManaLink software also enables a "live" player environment, allowing players to view a list of other Magic players who are currently online and playing over the Internet. Players will be able to sort potential opponents by attributes such as rank and location.
