One of ION Storm's founding members was notified this week that his services would no longer be required. The company's COO Steve Pittsenbargar was notified on Tuesday that he would be "leaving the company." January 22 is Pittsenbargar's last day at ION.
Pittsenbargar was ION's first CFO when hired in December 1996. He assumed the added role of chief operating officer in July of last year, soon thereafter relinquishing his role as CFO.
Pittsenbargar told GameSpot News on Friday, "The company is being extremely fair to me." He said he had been spending the past few days preparing ION's chief financial officer Stan Herndon to carry on until a new COO is appointed.
Pittsenbargar declined to comment on what prompted his departure from the company.
