The Montreal game development scene has added a new player. A new independent studio named Red Barrels was announced today. Though its name may be new, its staff are industry veterans who have worked on franchises like Army of Two, Assassin's Creed, and Uncharted.
The company is currently working on a downloadable PC survival-horror game called Outlast. Due out sometimes in 2013, the game plans to explain how the most truly terrifying monsters are inside the human mind.
Outlast is set in the mountains of Colorado, and focuses on journalist Miles Upshur. The writer breaks in to the Mount Massive Asylum to get the scoop on why it has been mysteriously re-opened by a branch of a transnational corporation.
