With Harrison Ford reprising the role of Han Solo this month in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, rumours persist about the actor's other iconic hero also returning to the big screen. Ford has spoken recently about his desire to star in a fifth Indiana Jones film, and now director Steve Spielberg has confirmed that if it was to happen, it could only ever star one man.

　　In an interview with Screen Daily, Spielberg said that he could not imagine another actor portraying the legendary archaeologist. "I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy. I don't think that's ever going to happen," he said. "It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that's Harrison Ford."

　　When asked about why he would be interested in making another Indiana Jones movie, Spielberg said: "Because there are more adventures out there than films. So as long as there's more adventures out there, I've got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket, and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done."

　　Last month, Ford confirmed that he would also be interested in playing the character again. "I would love to do another Indiana Jones and work with Steven again. If we get a script, I'd love to it," he told Good Morning America.

　　The last film in the series was 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although the film was considered a disappointment by many fans, it grossed more than $786 million worldwide.

　　Earlier this week, it was reported that the search to find an actor play a young Han Solo was underway. More than 2,500 auditions had taken place for the for the Star Wars spinoff movie, which is due for release in 2018.
