Interactive Magic has announced that it will be releasing the Great Battles Series Collector's Edition this September.
The Collection will include all three of the previous Great Battles games (Alexander, Hannibal, and Caesar), each with a new battle, and a scenario editor that will allow you to edit any of the existing battles to your specifications. The editor will also allow you to mix units and generals from different eras, so you could have Alexander vs. Hannibal battles, Hannibal vs. Caesar, and so forth.
Unfortunately there will be no provision to create new maps and terrain - new battles will have to make use of the existing maps.
Previous registered owners of any of the titles in the series will be able to get a price break when ordering the Collector's Edition.
In other news, last week GameSpot News revealed I-Magic's plans to continue using the Great Battles engine. The next game, set in the American Civil War, now has a new name (previously it was known as Rally Round the Flag): North vs. South: The Eastern Campaigns of the Civil War.
