German mobile content developer Mobile Scope AG announced plans yesterday to produce content for cell phones based on the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox feature film I, Robot. The new contract will cover Mobile Scopes global distribution of ringtones, images, and games based on the film, which are all scheduled for simultaneous release this summer.
The agreement represents an additional step in the two studios business relationship, which presently encompasses mobile licenses for Twentieth Century Foxs popular Ice Age and Die Hard properties.
"I, Robot is a great property for wireless content." said Jim Beddows, vice president of wireless entertainment for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising Division. "Mobile Scope has already done a great job translating previous Fox theatrical releases, such as Ice Age, to mobile phones, and we anticipate that Mobile Scope will create top-selling content for I, Robot."
I, Robot, a hotly anticipated release based on a canon of short stories written by sci-fi virtuoso Isaac Asimov, is directed by Alex Proyas of The Crow and Dark City fame. The vehicle is slated to feature Alis Will Smith. Set in the year 2035AD, I, Robot explores a future society served by a vast robotic underclass, relegated to eternal servitude by Asimovs notorious Three Laws of Robotics. In the movie, Smith plays Detective Del Spooner, a technophobic cop charged with investigating a murder suspected to have been perpetrated by a robot.
Mobile Scope AG is a mobile developer based in Meerbusch, Germany, and is known for its proprietary Moorhen series of platform and sports titles.
