Quite possibly the happiest tennis player ever.
After bringing its A-game to the virtual links, Japanese developer Clap Hanz stepped onto the tennis court with Hot Shots Tennis (known as Minna No Tennis is Japan). The Hot Shots Golf developer proved to be equally adept at the net sport, as Minna No Tennis performed extremely well in its home country, topping the charts when it was released last September.
Sony Computer Entertainment America is hoping for a repeat performance, as the publisher today announced it was localizing the game for North America under the name Hot Shots Tennis. The PlayStation 2 game is due out this July.
Like the Hot Shots Golf series, Hot Shots Tennis will feature cartoon characters and fast-paced action. The game will feature 14 playable characters, five umpires, 11 locations, and a variety of court surfaces. In addition to playing up to four players in head-to-head doubles matches, gamers can play the single-player challenge mode or just work on their game in a training mode.
Hot Shots Tennis will retail for $29.99 and has not yet been rated by the ESRB. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
