While Blizzard has yet to reveal an exact release date for the Grand Tournament update, a major patch is due to be deployed on Tuesday, and Blizzard had previously confirmed that all the 132 new cards will be unlocked at some point in August.
Each hero class is set to receive nine new cards, with one Legendary added to each (although the Hunter will be given ten new cards, with a second Legendary).
Two new mechanics will be added. The first is Inspire, which, for cards that include this mechanic, will activate a special ability whenever the player uses their hero power.
The second is a new minion battlecry called Joust, which, when activated, will pick two random cards from both the player's and their opponent's deck. Should the player who triggered Joust reveal a card with a higher value than their opponent, their minion who activated the Joust will receive a benefit.
It is expected that both new mechanics, along with other new cards added into the mix, will discourage the use of low-value aggro cards.
Players can unlock these new cards by purchasing packs of five, either with real money or through in-game currency.
Hearthstone is believed to be earning Blizzard some $20 million each month, according to new research.
