Hands-onTony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x-November 2024
Nov 25, 2024 12:17 AM

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x combines all the levels from Pro Skater and Pro Skater 2 into one big game. While a few changes have been made here and there, so far the game plays just like Tony Hawk 2 with some new levels, some old levels, and some rearranged levels.

The Tony Hawk 2 levels have never looked better. Each one plays just as it played in previous versions of the game, but everything looks significantly cleaner. Things like graffiti and other textures look especially nice. The Ventura level has new graffiti in it, but these new tags have been tagged over the old graffiti, making it appear as if a series of new taggers have made their way through the level. Other levels have been similarly altered, taking place at different times of the day, and the additional little touches, such as fuller background scenery and seagulls that fly off as you approach, give the levels a more lifelike, natural feel. Some new level geometry will also be added, such as the air control tower in the hangar level, reached by turning around at the level's starting point.

The level goals in the Tony Hawk 2 levels are the same as they were in previous versions of Tony Hawk 2. The Tony Hawk 1 levels will contain at least all the original goals, but whether or not they will have additional goals is still undecided. In addition to the large collection of old levels, Treyarch will design three new levels for the game. While two of them are still being kept under wraps, we were able to try the club level, which features dance floors, speaker rooms, and more. Goals in the club include tailsliding the DJ table and spilling five drinks. The club level has a lot of nice lighting effects including spotlights, strobes, and colored lighting. The level's lights will pulse and move in time to the music when the game is completed. Other new graphical effects will include a slight motion blur effect that activates on the skater when your special meter is full.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x is currently scheduled to launch alongside the Xbox this November. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
