While Marvel are keeping their various movies and TV shows unified within the same universe, Warner are building two separate worlds for their DC characters. On TV, shows like The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow are part of one universe, while movies such as Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice occupy another. Now Flash actor Grant Gustin has spoken about the decision to recast the role for the movie version, where Ezra Miller will play fast-footed Barry Allen.

Gustin's popularity in the role has led some fans--and fellow actors--to suggest that he should have been cast in the film, which is due for release in 2018. However, in a statement on Twitter, Gustin has stressed that while he would have loved to play the part, he fully supported the decision to cast Miller.
"Would I have liked to play Barry Allen in a film? Sure," he wrote. "I love this character and it has changed my life and making movies and TV is something I hope to be fortunate enough to do for the rest of my life.
"I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC. I've never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor."
"I "liked" some tweets from fans expressing their support of me and said they would've enjoyed seeing me in the movie. Nothing of anyone "bashing" Ezra. I can't wait to see all of the DC movies that are slated for the upcoming years. I am a fan and it will be awesome."
The CW recently broadcast a DC movie special, which included a first look at concept art for the Flash movie, as well as for Aquaman and Cyborg. The second season of TV show kicked off again this week, alongside spinoff show Legends of Tomorrow.
