The White Lotus star Haley Lu Richardson has revealed she auditioned for a Marvel movie and other superhero films. In an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Richardson said she has, over the years, tried out for "quite a few" superhero roles.
She didn't name any roles outright, but confirmed one of the auditions was for a Marvel character, and she said the experience of auditioning was "overwhelming."
"I did do a big screen test for a Marvel character, and there was like real cameras there, and they did our hair, and makeup, and stuff. But they just directed us in what kind of street clothes to wear, like what colors and stuff. We didn't actually get in a superhero costume," she said, as reported by ComicBook. "But yeah, it's just so overwhelming, because you're just committing to something, and you haven't even seen a script."
Before this, Richardson told The Hollywood Reported that she auditioned for the role of Batgirl, a part that eventually went to Leslie Grace. The movie, however, was famously canceled.
Richardson starred on Season 2 of HBO's The White Lotus as Portia. Season 3 is in the works, but The White Lotus is understood to be anthology series that introduces new cast members for each season.
