Gunning for a new level of controversy, Grand Theft Auto - the game that's been condemned by England's House of Lords, the French government, and has been banned in Brazil - gets a US release today.
The title, being called an adult game for ages 17 and up, has the player start as a lowly car thief trying to climb the ladder in a crime family. With over 200 missions assigned via pager or pay phone, the gamer as thief covers over 6,000 miles of road and can drive one of 30 stolen vehicles in his climb to the top.
"We believe that Grand Theft Auto's cartoonlike humor and intense gameplay make it one of the most exciting adventure titles for adults to hit the market this year," said Sharon Wood, executive vice president at ASC Games. "Mature audiences will love the tongue-in-cheek nature of the game as well as its fast-paced missions and endless action."
