The movie may have flopped, but just in time for Godzilla's release on video, Kesmai announces that its Godzilla multiplayer game is out of beta and has gone live on the GameStorm online gaming service. The game is also now playable via the official Godzilla site.
Centropolis Interactive, owned by the filmmakers behind Godzilla, Independence Day, and Stargate, developed the game in conjunction with Mythic Entertainment and Kesmai, using Kesmai's ARIES multiplayer game technology.
The game began its open beta test on May 20.
In the game, players take the roles of soldiers, reporters, scientists, and baby Godzillas. Game arenas match scenes from the movie. In the game, soldiers and scientists (a player type unavailable during the beta test) battle the baby monsters; reporters don't participate in combat, they "film" the action and receive points depending upon how many kills they record.
