The upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters recently wrapped production, and now there are reports that it might not be the only big-screen version of the '80s comedy classic heading to theatres.
Variety have reported that Sony are also developing an animated version of the property. Their sources state that Ivan Reitman--director of the original film-- will produce the picture.
This won't be the first time a cartoon version of the spook-catching team has been produced. After the success of the original film, The Real Ghostbusters cartoon ran for 140 episodes in the mid-'80s, while a less popular follow-up, Extreme Ghostbusters, was broadcast in 1997.
The new live-action film finished filming last month, and will feature an all-female Ghostbusting crew. Director Paul Feig has brought back many of the original cast to film cameos, including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson. It stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones and hits cinemas on July 16, 2016.
