NVIDIA pushed out a new GeForce driver (version 390.65, WHQL) that includes a security patch for the Spectre vulnerability (specifically, the first variant).
In addition, this new GeForce driver provides optimizations for Fortnite and adds support for ShadowPlay Highlights (already available in PUBG) in its Battle Royale mode. ELEX and Crossout are also getting ShadowPlay Highlights with this driver.
Last but not least, GeForce driver 390.65 adds support for the NVIDIA Freestyle beta. In case you missed the announcement, this allows gamers to apply post-processing filters to your games while you play. Right from the in-game overlay, you can change the look and mood of your game with tweaks to color or saturation, or apply dramatic post-process filters.
At launch there are going to be a total of 15 filters with 38 different settings (some filters have multiple settings). They include:
Black and WhiteColorColorblindContrastDetailsExposureHalf ToneMoodNight ModeRetroSepiaVignetteDepth of FieldSpecial FXAdjustmentsFreestyle lets you be more creative with your games. For example, you can create a retro war-themed filter for your favorite FPS or enhance color and contrast to make a game look more photorealistic.
Freestyle’s more serious uses include a colorblind mode that makes it easier for colorblind gamers to differentiate between colors. Gamers can even use night mode, which reduces blue color so users can sleep better after a night of gaming.
Freestyle has been integrated at the driver level to provide "seamless compatibility". Here's an official list of tested games, while below you may find a recap of everything noteworthy that's in this driver.
