Gearbox confirms Wii support
Gearbox confirms Wii support-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 7:09 AM

Gearbox Software has never developed for a Nintendo system before, but that's set to change, according to a post on the company's Web site. The developer of Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms series confirmed "support and plans to develop for the console" but didn't give any specifics as to when that development would begin or what type of game would be produced.

Gearbox is best known for its first-person shooters, developing the PC port of Halo, the PlayStation 2 port of Half-Life, as well as the PC Opposing Force and Blue Shift expansions of Half-Life. Its next game, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, is slated for release in the first quarter of 2007.

If Brothers in Arms does come to the Wii, it would not be the only World War II shooter on the console. Activision is developing Call of Duty 3 for the platform, and Electronic Arts is readying a Wii version of Medal of Honor: Airborne Assault.
