Hip Games today announced that it is working on a Garfield game for the PC and PlayStation 2. The game is currently scheduled for release this fall, a few months after the release of the upcoming live-action Garfield movie starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Breckin Meyer, and Bill Murray.
"Everyone at Hip is excited to be working on a game with such a well-known and well-loved character as Garfield," said Hip's Olivier Goulon. "Garfield is a leading franchise, and our game's cachet will benefit this year from the concurrent release of the movie."
"Seeing Garfield as an interactive 3D character is extremely captivating," added Garfield's creator, Jim Davis. "We are confident that Hip's know-how will provide for a great Garfield experience for gamers of all ages."
For the uninitiated, Garfield is a cynical, lasagna-loving fat cat who celebrated his 25th year in syndication in 2003. Garfield is currently the most syndicated comic strip in the world, appearing in 2,570 different newspapers, with an estimated total of 263 million readers.
We'll bring you more information on the Garfield game as soon as it becomes available.
