Gamebryo chosen for the PS2's Sahara-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 3:21 PM

NDL today announced that its Gamebryo graphics engine and tools have been chosen by TKO Software for use in the development of the PS2 version of Sahara. Based on the upcoming movie of the same name, Sahara is a 3D action adventure game in which players assume the role of a special project director for the US National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which is charged with saving the planet's ecosystem from an evil dictator and his nuclear waste disposal plant.

"Partnering with NDL was an ideal solution for this project because of their proven track record and the extensive knowledge and experience of their technical support team," said Jacob Hawley, president and chief executive officer of TKO Software. "It was crucial that we deliver a multiplatform title at the same time as the movie launch. Licensing Gamebryo for the PlayStation2 will help us to deliver Sahara on schedule."

"We're thrilled to be working with TKO Software and to be a part of a motion picture-based game," said John Austin, president and chief executive officer of NDL. "Gamebryo's flexibility allows TKO to use the best features of Gamebryo--and their own software--to bring unique elements to gamers."

PC and PS2 versions of Sahara are currently scheduled for release, alongside the movie, toward the end of this year.
