From Russia With Love to stores for PS2, Xbox
From Russia With Love to stores for PS2, Xbox-March 2024

Electronic Arts has tried several different methods to get the most out of its James Bond license. It tried releasing games concurrently with new Bond movies (1999's 007: Tomorrow Never Dies), making up new Bond storylines (2002's James Bond 007: NightFire, 2004's James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing), and even letting gamers kill Bond as a supervillain (2004's GoldenEye: Rogue Agent).

As any self-respecting James Bond fan knows, no one swigged the martinis or wooed the ladies like Sean Connery's Bond. EA, as a self-respecting Bond-fan entity, decided it was time to give Sir Connery a nod of recognition by today releasing From Russia With Love, which features the Scottish actor's voice and youthful likeness. The game is based on the 1963 film, which was the second Bond adventure to hit the screen after Dr. No.

The game is currently available on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, with a GameCube version expected on November 15 and a PSP version scheduled for early next year.

From Russia With Love features all the prerequisite Bond movie traits. The secret agent will be outfitted with plenty of gadgets and weapons, he'll fly around with a jetpack, and he'll zip around the streets in a sleek car. Of course, no Bond movie or game is complete without its Bond ladies, and UK songstress Natasha Bedingfield and former Entertainment Tonight correspondent Maria Menounos both lent their talents to EA.

From Russia With Love is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's full review.
