Forza Horizon 5 High Performance Update Adds Intel XeSS Support, New Content & PC Performance Improvements-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 4:49 AM

Playground Games and Microsoft have just released the Forza Horizon 5 High Performance Update across PC and Xbox, packing new content, features, and more.

Developer Playground provided details about the new content update last week, mentioning the Oval Circuit, improvements, and fixes as well as new high-performance cars, including the 2020 Lamborghini Huracán STO, the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935, the 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant, and the very satisfying 2021 Porsche Mission R (a shot of this car can be seen at the top of this post).

"Pioneering the incredibly exciting future of electrified Porsche GT4 race cars, the 2021 Porsche Mission R makes a clear statement by bringing together everything that the Porsche lineage has always set out to achieve and doing it with astounding performance numbers", Playground Games' blog post from last week about the Porsche Mission R reads. "While the car is proof of concept and won’t enter production, the vision behind the all-wheel drive, lightweight, and fully electric car has been to show how racecars could evolve over the next five to six years. Its two electric motors deliver over 800 kW (1,088 PS), which translates to 1,000 horsepower, and the car itself achieves 0-62mph in less than 2.5 seconds with an overall top speed of 186mph (300km/h)."

Aside from transforming the Stadium in the new Freeroam Oval Circuit, this update also adds four returning speed traps, two returning speed zones, PC-specific performance improvements, and support for Intel XeSS upscaling. We suggest reading the full release notes for this update on Playground Games' official support page right here.

It will be pretty interesting to see how Intel's upscaling tech performs within Forza Horizon 5, especially considering that the tech sort of destroyed AMD's FSR 2 upscaling tech in Cyberpunk 2077.

Forza Horizon 5 is available globally now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (through Windows Store and via Steam). Here's what we wrote about the racer in our launch review in 2021:

"Forza Horizon 5 is yet another step up for the series and arguably the best racing game ever made", Chris Wray wrote in his review of the PC version "Offering a host of content across a fantastic representation of Mexico, its varied terrain and scenery, there's so much to explore and race. A massive roster of cars will perform all of these, each feeling different from the others, with a variety of upgrade and tuning options almost matching those of simulation titles. While there are a few minor niggles here and there, they are nearly so small as to be hardly worth mentioning. All in all, it's impossible not to recommend this for anybody, regardless of them being a fan of racing games or not, as this is that good."
