The Fortnite Galactus event has concluded in Fortnite: Battle Royale, effectively ending Season 4. Playlists were disabled, leaving players to join the one option: The Devourer of Worlds, which asked players to "Defend the Island to save all Reality!" This event marked the long-awaited arrival of Galactus, the planet-eating cosmic antagonist at the center of this season's Marvel-themed mayhem, and laid the groundwork for the start of Fortnite: Season 5, which is hours away.
Joining the playlist initially sent players to the helicarrier, where they killed time performing emotes and gliding around. As the countdown clock finally struck zero, an alarm briefly began blaring, and shortly thereafter, Galactus kicked into action. He emerged from the skyline, walking toward the island and showing himself to be even larger than he previously appeared. Towering over the island, he finally came into clear view. With glowing red eyes, he stretched his fists and announced, "Beware! I hunger!" Lightning strikes and thunder followed, and he then swung his fist, destroying the helicarrier and sending players into a freefall. From there, you're rescued by Iron Man, who gives you a jetpack and says you need to stop Galactus from eating the Zero Point. Iron Man flies off and Galactus stretches his fingers over the island, drawing power from the Zero Point, which was ripped out of the ground.

Your view then cuts to the inside of a battle bus, which is flying in the air amidst a massive fleet of buses. Iron Man says he cloned billions of these and turned them into bombs, with the objective being to make Galactus eat as many as possible and send him away. You're then put in control of the bus and its weapons as you shoot at incoming drones while making your way toward Galactus in the middle of space. Thor briefly showed up to help, as did Wolverine, as you transitioned to an attack run that looked like something out of a Star Wars: Rogue Squadron game.
After making it close enough, Galactus sucks in the buses and cracks began to emerge throughout his body, causing green light to shoot out of his mouth and the cracks. He falls backwards and disappears through a crack in space, and the camera cuts to a phone ringing in the office as the Fortnite mascot character, Jonesy, can be seen waking up. That's then followed by a "to be continued in Season 5" message, along with confirmation that Season 5 will begin at 12 AM ET on December 2.
According to Epic, Fortnite will not provide a replay of the event, so if you wanted to watch it later, you'll have to check out the video above. The event was streamed by many people on Twitch and elsewhere, although thanks to the use of an AC/DC song at one point, streamers were forced to mute the broadcast. Epic had warned streamers that there could be potential copyright issues with the event.
This event lays the foundation for what will become Season 5, but it turns out you won't be able to play any further until Season 5 begins overnight. That's because Fortnite has been taken offline, rendering it unplayable. Booting up the game presents you with a countdown to the new season, and your only option is to exit.
