Constantin Films, the German company that owns the rights to the Resident Evil movie, has released the first image from the film. Milla Jovovich, who plays a new lead character, Alice, is shown holding an assault weapon and a handgun. The film's plot involves a military task force that is battling a powerful supercomputer that has gone awry and will release a deadly virus into the world unless it is stopped. Alice and her S.T.A.R.S. team has a few hours to defeat mutated scientists and stop the virus from infecting the world's population.
Paul Anderson, the man behind the Mortal Kombat film and the director of such movies as Soldier and Event Horizon, wrote the script for the Resident Evil movie. He will also direct the film, which is set to debut this Halloween in the US.
