60 Million Halo Games Sold
60 Million Halo Games Sold-November 2024
Nov 17, 2024 11:12 AM

Microsoft has sold more than 60 million Halo titles worldwide since the franchise debuted on the original Xbox thirteen years ago with Halo: Combat Evolved. This is up from the 50 million milestone announced in December 2012.

The 60 million figure would include the numbered games (Halo 1-4), spinoffs such as Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo Wars, as well as Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. On Xbox Live, gamers have played various Halo titles for more than 6 billion hours, Microsoft said.

That's equivalent to around 684,000 years.

By comparison, franchises such as Mario, Pokemon, Need for Speed, Final Fantasy, LEGO, Grand Theft Auto, and FIFA have each sold more than 100 million copies. An important distinction for Halo, however, is it is a Microsoft exclusive series, meaning it does not show up on competing platforms.

The next Halo game is November's Xbox One bundle, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which includes remastered versions of Halo 1-4, as well as a handful of other bonuses. In 2015, Microsoft will release Halo 5: Guardians (though you can play its beta in December), and it sounds like many more Halo games are likely to follow.
